Makeup and Skin question?

The last two years I experienced to no acne..at all...Suddenly this summer they just seem to pop up outta no where. I went to see a dermatologist who prescribed me some pills and Retin-A. Of course..it hasn't cleared up..but I have seen some improvement. Is there anything else I can do? I swear I am the cleanest person that I know...I wash my face morning and night...so I know it's not from being "unclean."

Also...my skin seems to be drying out and flaking...which is not very pretty when you try and put foundation on because it makes it extremely obvious...I use moisturizers and everything. Still seems like within the last few months I'm having more problems than I like to have. It seems that my skin is either really pimply..really red from the pimples..scabbing from the pimples, or flaking. Moreover, I feel as if my face looks washed out...I use a dark foundation..but still feel rather white compared to the rest of my body....does anyone have any suggestions to anything?
Makeup and Skin question?
PROACTIVE!!!!! and steam helps to open your pores so the germs get out!!!! also aroma therapy you are probably washing your face to much it will make your face oily then turn it dry making it flake and cause the pimples to get bigger because you are irratating them

Try drinking lots of water to help your skin look great and then try facewashes with salicic acid in it because it does not dry your face up so bad and it helps clear blemishes. But more importantly, drink lots of water!
Reply:Nuetrogena is really good, they have facial peel, with a great moisturizer. You could probably also try pro active, i hear that's really good.

Try not to scrub your face morning and night, do it twice a week, and the other nights just simply clean, not scrub or exfoliate, because too much of that can cause your face to dry out forreal.

Drink water, take fish oil pills, and you should be good, also, stay away from foundation unless you really really need it, I do not use it at all!!! I will use makeup such as blush, and cosmetic stuff, but nothing that will caked on my skin and cause it to eventually dry out.
Reply:Rule number one.. Never use a foundation darker than your skin. If you are trying to look "natural" you need to find a foundation closest color to your skin. Try going to the mall, maybe at dillards or macys and have the makeup lady tell you the color foundation you need. Also as far as your pimples. Ask your doctor for something else. Do not stop washing your face, i would suggest washing your face with something mild. I use just regular dove soap, works great. Try it, and let me know
Reply:pimples usually come skin being unclean, but in your case it doesnt seem to be the cause. they also tend to come from being stressed, i dont know what casued them to begin with, but maybe they seem to be comming back because your stressing about them....and with the flakes, it may be the face cleaner your using. some people suffer from adult onset acne, not sure how old you are though..
Reply:use neutrogena ance washes/scrubs..there wonderful!!
Reply:There are so many things that can cause outbreaks, sweety pie. It maybe that you've developed a food allergy or an allergy to an ingredient in the products you've been using. Sometimes this happens, for no particular reason.

Puberty is the second thing that I think of. My son, who is 17 just about, just started getting zits too. His face has always been clear. His case, was a reaction to the new medicine he was taking. I put two and two together and we found what was causing the outbreaks.

You talked about cleaning your face. Do you think you are cleaning your face so much that you are taking all the oils out of it and thats why its so dry? Your face needs some oil to help keep moisture in. If you have dry skin, twice a day using a strong facial cleanser, might be too harsh for your skin type.

If you use too heavy a moisturizer for your skin type, this can cause zits too. Just don't over moisturize (use water based moisturizers only, nothing heavy) OR over clean for right now. Maybe you've been washing your face so much that you've forced your sebasceous glands (oil producing glands) to produce even more oil which is causing more pimples.

When you go to bed, try using a toner with Salicylic acid on your zits. Be careful to use the Retin A sparingly. (a little goes a long way) Toners and retin A can be very drying if you use them too much. If you've got dry skin, skip the toner.

Let your skin breathe as much as possible in between the makeup and the moisturizers.

The best makeup to use is of course minerals. These won't make you break out. However, since they are all in powder form, when you're face is peeling, you can see them more clearly.

Have you tried using a tanning lotion on your face? That might give your face the color you've been wanting without the makeup. (so you won't have to depend on makeup as much.) Of course tanning lotions have chemicals in them (that bring the tannins to the surface to make your skin look tan) but I'd give them at least a try anyway.

Best of luck!

Hope these help some:o)
