How to "remove" skin discoloration?

I had folliculitis a while back, and while it's gone now, my skin has dark patches because my skin color hasn't gone back to normal yet. I know there aren't any formal medications or creams to make the skin color go back to normal, but are there any home-style therapies or techniques you would suggest? I hear soaking in baking soda in the bath might help...

There are actually some companies that do put out skin lightening products for skin discolorations and hyperpigmentation.

DDF puts out something that is called "DDF Intensive Holistic Lightener鈩?quot; and they also have something called "DDF Fade Gel 4" both of which work really well for lightening dark patches of skin.

They are both spot treatments and not for the whole face-just where you need it. But there also is a brightening face wash if you prefer and you can find it on the site.

They are all fairly expensive, but I personally have used both creams and they work very well and are very powerful.
