Good lotion for really dry skin?

During cold weather, my knuckles as well as the backs of my hands always get really dry. And I mean REALLY dry, too. If I don't use any sort of dry skin treatment my knuckles will literally start to crack and bleed. Is there a good over-the-counter lotion that works well with this type of skin? I have some lotions that I use, but skin always starts drying out again several hours after application.

Also, I'm a guy, so it would be best if the skin treatment had more of a gender-neutral smell. Though if it works, I'll use it, even if it does smell feminine.

My husband suffers the same (but on his fingers) all winter.

He uses Corn Huskers lotion (found at the drug store) with a yellow cap (clear bottle) also any cream with a shea or cocoa butter is helpful. Do not use any product with a mineral oil base (and no vaseline) petroleum (contrary to what people think) is not helpful - especially to dry skin.

You can also open pure vitamin e and apply before bed slip on socks (or gloves) to lock in moisture.

try aquaphor. it comes in a white tub or tube with a blue lid. It's clear, like vasoline, but works amazingly. I put it on my hands a couple times a week and they're super soft.
Reply:Eucerin in the tub (not the tube) is the best for really, really dry skin. It costs a little more, but it works. My shins get so dry they crack and bleed in the winter, eucerin is the only thing that heals it.
Reply:know that your dry skin will respond well to an all natural skin care moisturizer for it is proven to be safe and effective in keeping the skin moist all day. avoiding long baths will help for that can rob moisture out of your skin. better ask your dermatologist about good skin care treatments and skin care remedies for dry skin. having healthy habits can also help improve the look and how your skin feels from inside and out. try to refrain from smoking and alcohol for they do not only cause the skin to become dry but also they can promote premature skin aging.
