Survey- Tan skin versus Fair skin?
Make your own choice, ladies, but make sure it is you deciding and not societal pressure. The history of tanning is fascinating. So far who tans has been determined by economic status. When the majority of the population was rural, a tan was the mark of laborer, lower economic. And paler skin color was prized. Later when the majority of people worked in factories or offices, only the rich could vacation and get a tan. Then tans were thought beautiful. The truth: Sun exposure and alcohol age you more than any other factors. If you want to look 60 when you are 45, get a tan. With our thinning ozone layer, sun exposure also causes skin cancer. Even the sheep get skin cancer in New Zealand. And for appearance, a tan makes your face one color; no more light and shadow to define features. Not beautiful.
