I was just curious. I am not asking if it exactly dries out your skin but if you use lotion once, after 24 hours it will become dry again which makes you need to use more lotion.
I don't use lotion, I only use bodywash and soap in shower. My skin is not dry or rough but its not exactly smooth, its just natural skin.
If I do find that it actually does make you need to apply more, I won't use it but if it just makes your skin more smooth I might consider it if the answers are good.
any personal expierences can you please share them?
Does Lotion actually make your skin dry?
good lotions are not supposed to make you feel greasy whatsoever, most lotions work in a way to PREVENT moisture from leaving your skin - sometimes even adding a glossy effect to make it looked moisturised. notice that when the lotion wears off or after you clean it off (by taking a shower or whatever), your skin doesnt look moisturised but normal - like how it looks everytime you don't put lotion on. it kinda is like a veil, a mask for your legs. but it does help a little i guess, considering that it prevents moisture from leaving your legs...
what lotions are SUPPOSED to do is to add moisture to your skin and help to keep it that way. good lotions are lotions from l'occitane, crabtree %26amp; evelyn etc.. you can really feel them melting into your skin, your skin absorbing the moisture, and you can see the difference much later on - your skin will practically be glowing, smooth and nice to look/touch! :%26gt;
Does Lotion actually make your skin dry?
I find lotion makes my hands really greasy.
Reply:no it does not mae your skin dry it works for about 12 hours and depends on what brand you use, baby lotion is the bst one because it is sensitive to skin an it lasts and smells pretty good, try it you'll like it.
Reply:yes. by constantly using lotion your skin becomes used to the extra moisture so when you don't use it you skin reacts by becoming dry, sorta like it needs the lotion. give it some time and it will go back to normal. same with chap stick.
Reply:i use lotion whenever i need it but when it drys up your skin isn't drier than usually just make sure you have a good quality lotion for moisterizing or smoothing don''t get cheap lotion because it wont help at all but most lotion is made to make your skin smoother and softer than it was before and when i use lotion my skin is softer and alot better for days so i hardly have re-apply
Reply:Not if you buy a good quality brand. I look to see what the ingredients are. If they have vitamins and minerals and peptides, they are worth a try. I like Lotrium, Palmer's coco butter, Jason's naturals, Healing Gardens, and after sun lotins are usually good. There are some more expensive ones too, that you may like. Hot showers actually can make skin dry, its best to use lotion right after shower to help keep in moisture. And sunscreen is always a good idea.
Reply:watever brand you buy might actually makes it dry,all my lotions dont make it dry,but soaps do
and its probaly that ur skin iz different from everybody elses so...yea
Reply:lotions that contain acohol tend to make it very dry note that next time you buy some.
