I have very oily skin and I can't seem to find a powder and liquid foundation(?) that will give me great cover, is long lasting, and will not make my skin more oily than it already is. I don't want to spend more than $15 or so though either.
Right now I'm using Neutogena's Healthy Skin Glow Sheers, which I love because its OIL FREE makes my skin look and feel healthy, plus it has an SPF of 30, the only bad thing is, its sheer, so I don't get as much cover as I'd like. I'm also using Neautrogena's Skin Clearing OIL-FREE Compact Foundation but my skin still gets oily :(
PLEASE HELP!
What is a good foundation and powder for oily skin?
An important part of keeping oily skin under control is keeping the topmost layer of your skin free of debris and oil build-up. It is important not to over-strip the skin and to use mild cleansers because harsh skin care products can create a cycle of oiliness that just gets worse. When your skin is too dry, it tries to correct the moisture imbalance by creating more of its natural oils.
By adding exfoliation to your skin care regimen, you open pores and remove toxins from the skin's surface, allowing the skin to breathe more naturally. This is important in alleviating oily skin. Aside from this, fine lines will become less visible with regular exfoliation and your skin will have a healthy glow.
These steps describe a total body exfoliation, but may be adapted for exfoliating only the face. It should be noted that over-exfoliation can lead to cracked skin and broken capillaries just beneath the skin's surface layer, so exfoliate but don't over-do it.
Wet your entire body in the bath or shower. A slick, smooth skin surface is important to keep the skin from being pulled (which stretches it).
Apply an organic exfoliating treatment (you want to find or make one for oily skin) to a pair of exfoliating gloves (the exfoliation surface of the gloves should not be too rough). Make sure the treatment is well dispersed over the exfoliating surface of the gloves. Exfoliating treatments that utilize citric juices as ingredients are good for oily skin.
Beginning with your feet, massage the treatment over the entire surface of your skin, being very careful with sensitive areas like the insides of arms and thighs. Your massaging should consist of small circles which overlap each other repeatedly.
Once you work up to the top of your thighs, switch and start on your arms. Your torso should be last. It is recommended to save your face by exfoliating it with your normal skin care. Exfoliating your face in the mirror allows you to see when you are being too rough with it. You don't realize how much you are pulling your facial skin when you cannot see it.
Rinse your body thoroughly. Cleanser left on the skin can be overly drying and lead to even more oil production.
Follow with a good organic moisturizer for oily skin applied to wet/damp skin. This will help seal water into the outer layers of the skin which can help balance the moisture content and allow your skin to slow its oil production.
What is a good foundation and powder for oily skin?
try cover girl if you dont want to go too expensive. try their loose powder b/c i always find that it makes your skin look not so shiny, compared to the pressed powder....and you can get the oil-free foundation. it will be like $12 total.
but if you want to spend a lot more than that, like maybe 25 a piece, then i recommend the MAC line of make-up....it's foundations work best for me, and they have A LOT of coverage but it doesnt look caked on.
Reply:*** DO NOT USE FOUNDATION ON OILY SKIN ***
this will only make it worse and make you break out because it clogs your pores...
Use MINERAL MAKEUP-- bareminerals, they are expensive but worth it!!! they cover your skin just as well as they show on tv, you will be addicted to them its actually good for your skin, u put it on and it stays on all day and it makes your skin healthier and clears acne and redness....
If you want a cheaper one, go to www.avon.com and order from there its like 8 bucks and i have been using for a while now- the avon kind, and its amazing.
Good luck
Reply:My recommend is to try Maybelline Foundation Perfect Finish...it's not expensive, I think around $12 for 30ml.
And it's also Oil Free.
Reply:I have oily skin too, and I tried every makeup from the grocery store and none of them worked. What I have found that works the best is Bare Minerals or Origins. I use the Origins Mint wash and the Oil Refiner toner, then use their foundation for oily skin. I use bare minerals mineral veil underneath and on top of the foundation and it really helps. I keep the mineral veil with me in a compact and put it on around lunch time and then I am good for the rest of the day. You can probably use any kind of liquid foundation that you want, but the mineral veil is KEY! It is truly a lifesaver for those of us with oily skin! I nkow you said you don't want to spend more than $15, but the mineral veil should last you at least 4 months...so that is pretty worth it!
Reply:I would use a foundation power instead of a liquid. But most definitely go to a near by Kohl's and in the makeup section they sell a product called good skin. Either the blue or the pink one is the kind for oily skin, it works wonders and it's not expensive. It's all actually by Estee Lauder so it's high quality products and there's all different kinds of makeup and foundations just for oily skin.
Reply:I have extremely Oily SKin too.
If you could buy Bare Minerals - $60 4 powders, 3 brushes, cream...ITS WORKS AMAZING AND IT DOES NOT CAUSE PIMPLES, also it covers EVERYTHING without it looking like ur wearing makeup...
But if you dont want to dish out $60, even though the box set has lasted me 5 months, you could buy Loreal's loose powders, the work good too, but not as AMAZING has Bare Minerals.
Reply:The biggest problem here is your budget, unfortunately you get what you pay for and for the best foundation its gonna set you back 32.00 but the upside is it lasts forever, I have had my tube for 6.5 months and still going strong its awesome and Its great for all skin types the liquid powder mineral foundation by Bee Luscious cosmetics , you will be floored with the results of this product and instead of buying foundation and powder 2 products its all in one more convenient and better GOOD LUCK
Reply:i use maybelline foundation, it's water based... it comes in a green tube. here in our country, it's called clear smooth aqua gel foundation, but i think in the US it's called pure makeup (?). i've been using it for 5 months and i love its effect, it feels and looks natural... like you have no foundation.
Reply:i have oily skin too, and im using studio fix powder by MAC, though its quite expensive it's worth it, it's $20 i guess, it gives you medium coverage but doesnt clog ur pores.
if you want your make up long lasting, bring oil-blotting paper wherever you will go, and then touch up ur make up after you use the blotting paper. i do, and it help me so much.
Reply:I use everyday minerals. I have combination skin and it gives me the right amount of coverage and the "oily" zone doesn't look oily. It is also good for your skin.
Reply:I have oily skin and it gets very annoying many times but I found and LOVE the Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation by BEE LUSCIOUS COSMETICS it was the best treasure I ever found I just love ALL THEIR PRODUCTS and the skincare really helps achieve that flawless look ... I use the Papaya Enzyme products along with their makeup and my skin has never looked or felt as wonderful as now.... Truly great products.
Reply:I have oily skin and I use a powder foundation by Bare Minerals. I would advise not to use a liquid foundation be cause it has a good chance of clogging your pores to give youeven more pimples. You cna also try the powder foundations by avon and other make- up companies.
Reply:The best foundation is Bee Luscious
I am totally in love with how it looks, feels and performance
Its THE BOMB !!!!!! get it don't waste your money on the other stuff nothing can compare .
Reply:mark cheep products and work great if you want more you can e mail me. $15.00 is way to much.
Reply:I came across a very good tinted moisturizer, Mark C-thru U sheer tint SPF 15 $8, which does a better job than my Cosmedicine tinted moisturizer SPF 25 $35. It seem to just sink in my skin without the oily feeling and it has grape seed, green tea, and vitamins A, C, and E. It's not orange or fake looking like other tinted moisturizers!!! Moving on to foundations, I like how the Revlon foundations work on oily skin for their price. If you don't want to compromise too much on the SPF, coverage, and $$$, try (Revlon Colorstay active light makeup SPF 25 $11). This foundation is not light at all! It's waterproof, has long staying power, and it's more on the medium to full coverage side. For powder, I also like (Revlon Colorstay pressed powder $10). If you're using both, try using a powder brush when you apply your powder so your makeup doesn't look cakey. There's always something that works for all of us without spending a fortune. Don't believe the rude comments about, "YOU ARE GETTING WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Rude, rude, rude!!! It just takes a little searching and trying. I hope these products work good on you.
