How do relieve very dry skin in the summer?

I drinks loads of water everyday and add moistuizer daily to my skin. It is for very dry skin but it is not enough. I don't like wearing moisturizer in the summer because the heat makes me sweat alot. But if I don't put it on my skin is very dry. My doctor said eat more oily fish. Did nothing. Is there a product out there? Is it my skin? By the way I shower with a moisterizing body wash. It helps somewhat but not enough.

Use a body exfoliator that you can buy in the store or add a small amount of sugar to your body cleanser. You can also try the products w/ oatmeal in them. You could also try using an aloe vera gel (also from the store).

For chapped and cracked dry skin, you should probably put an antibacterial ointment on the cracks, because they let in germs. As to your dry skin problem, have you considered using Udder Cream? Though designed for cows, it works wonderfully on dry skin, even peeling sunburns and intensly chapped skin. It is safe and doesn't cause reactions, just smooth, radiant skin. I love it.

Reply:i heard that shea butter helps. but you have to find the actual one with all the natural vitamins or ingredients in it.

Reply:Its your sweating that dries the skin out. Salt is very drying to the skin. You might want to also be sure that you are replacing the salts with elecrolyts. I like Succeed caps, but other people just do Gatorade etc. When you are sweating, routinely rinse off or wipe off your skin with cool water. WHen the sweat dries on your skin, the salt that is left on there further pulls moisture out. So, you can really help yourself out during the day by not letting sweat sit on your skin and dry out. (I work outside all day everyday in all weather so I know about sweating it out in the heat!)

At night you can help repair the skin with the use of a good moisturizer:

I use different body butters from The Body Shop. They have a wide range of products for all skin types and some for extremely dry skin. Shower at night (again, get the days salt and grime OFF the skin), then apply them. In the morning, shower, but only rinse your body... shampoo hair as normal, but don't soap up your skin again (might take some getting used to, but trust that you are clean). Let the warm water rinse off a little bit of the body butter (It starts off thick and creamy on your skin, but soaks in well over night) so that you don't feel at all like it inhibits sweating.

I found that I only have to treat my skin with the intense moisturizer one or two evenings a week. The rest of the time is just making sure my skin doesn't wear the sweat for too long.

Reply:You may want to try Cetaphil products. Even though they are not oily, the glycerin in these products are soothing to the skin. They also have a great wash that goes along with the lotion.
