I recently noticed that for a while I've had this tiny smaller than a pea sized bump under my skin in the right armpit only. This bump can't be noticed...you have to pinch that little area of the skin to feel it and trap it like a tiny ball. There's no discoloration its just the same as my skin color. It's only under the skin... you can't see it with the naked eye. I plan on seeing the doctor for this.
My question is is this just a cyst or swollen lymph nodes? I don't think its lymphoma or anything is it?
A small tiny under-the-skin bump in my right armpit?

A small tiny under-the-skin bump in my right armpit?
probably a swollen lymph node - go to your doctor
Reply:possible irritation from deodorant or other powder
check with your doctor
this can happen when switching deodorants
Reply:i know that you are looking for an answer but no one here is able to give you a qualified answer on this. i too had the same thing starting on my right arm pit. just make an appointment and get it checked out as early as possible, don't put it off. i waited until i saw a change in my breast. and my cancer had spread into stage 3, I'm not saying that you have cancer but don't put anything off until you see other changes. hopefully its just a cyst and everything will be alright. God Bless!

Dried Skin Around Nose Piercing..?
I've had my nose pierced for about seven months now
And there's alot of dried skin around it
It looks like i've been out in the sun and my skin has got burnt and started peeling, if you know what I mean.
I don't clean it as much as I used to because it's not a new piercing and it's fully healed now.
But is this normal?
And does it actually have anything to do with the piercing?
Thanks for any help!
XO
Dried Skin Around Nose Piercing..?
ha it must be the weather or something right now... mine is doing the same thing... i just took it off though with tweesers... i know it suonds gross lol but ph well its the truth... just put some moisturizer on there and avoid putting make up on it...
:)
Dried Skin Around Nose Piercing..?
It's the same with me =[
I've had mine for 10 months and the skin around it is all raw
Reply:For dry skin, use a creamy cleanser to melt away dirt. Leave it on your skin before sweeping it away with cotton wool. Splash cold water onto your face to clean and refresh your skin. Use a thick cream moisturizer to seal in as much moisture as possible and have a refreshing feel.check out http://tipsfromruby-skincare.blogspot.co...

Reply:Mineral powder is great foundation. I got mine from www.marykay.com/vhall07111. It came with a cute bag and a brush. It is flawless.
Reply:Christian Dior, I love it best.
Reply:I have pale, pale skin too and it can be a pain finding foundation. I always can find a foundation shade at Make Up For Ever, MAC and Precriptives. They seem to have the best range.
Reply:Do you have a Macy Store near you??? Try the Mac department. They are the best, I love it. I've used this line of make-up for 4 years and let me tell you it's great. I usually buy the fix powder which is both powder and concealer together. Also I've used their bronze powder which is the best. Why don't you log in and try to find a store location and maybe you can visit them. They are great they will do a demonstration on you of which is best for you and also give you their best opinion. You won't regret it believe me, try them!!
Reply:YES!! LA Minerals has like 4 "fairest" shades in 2 foundation formulas, the Hollywood and NoHOGlo mineral foundations. Plus you can order "untinted" and custom mix your stuff to lighten it if you need. Thats the neat thing about loose mineral powder foundations.
I couldn't use bare minerals cuz of the bismuth in it, made me itch like crazy.
LA Minerals has samples for like $1 and they ship em free. Stop wastin your money on full sized WRONG colors and try it, you'll be soooo glad you did. I'm totally hooked. http://www.laminerals.com

I have new skin on my nose && it's really pink!?
My skin was really dry so I peeled off the dead skin %26amp;%26amp; now my skin on the tip of my nose is really really pink and some of it is flesh and it's red!!!
When I put lotion on it, it gets a little better but after a while it gets really dark pink again.
When I go to bed %26amp;%26amp; the next morning its completely RED!
I have a friend coming over THIS FRIDAY *2.22.08* and I want it to be gone by then.
It is now Wednesday so we don't have much time.
I am 13 so I can't really spend any money.
My mom will just tell me to leave it alone :[
Some at-home remedies would work great!
Thank you.
I have new skin on my nose %26amp;%26amp; it's really pink!?
try an ice cube it will get reder for a hour ofr so but should look better later and just leave it alone

well your moms right the best way for it to get better faster is to leave it alone!!!!!!!!!!! Know you know not to do that tho!!!
But you can try a little vitamin e oil after it heals again to keep it from scarring
Reply:i hv same problem, it means u got sunbburned rite thre badly sum time in your lyfe and there isnt alot of skin there
Reply:I agree with Mom
leave it alone
you are aggravating the tender skin by applying lotions and potions to it
Reply:i used to have the same problem..first off always put on sunscreen, especially on ur face NO MATTER WHAT!! secondly to get rid of it put on eucerin lotion it works really well put on A LOT before u go to sleep..like cake it on..it should be gone by friday

What gives caucasian skin a pink/rosy undertone and asian (korean, japanese) skin yellow undertone?
They are both light skinned but Caucausian skin looks rosy and Asian (Korean, Japanese) looks light yellowish.
What gives caucasian skin a pink/rosy undertone and asian (korean, japanese) skin yellow undertone?
The amount of melanin that your skin carries. Caucasions have little, the darker your skin the more melanin you have.

Loose Skin?
Over the course of about a year and a half or so, I have lost around 75 lbs. I went from 265 to 190, and now I have a bit of loose skin around my midsection.
I'm 18 y/o male and am 6'3, and workout 6-8 times a week (2-3 days lifting, 4-5 days competitive swimming). I keep my food intake up, so im not losing any more.
It isn't a ton of loose skin, and there is still a small amount of fat there, but I was wondering how I can work to tighten it up, because swim suit season is fast-approaching.
(I already do ab work with my swimming)
Thanks in advance.
Loose Skin?
CONGRATULATIONS! GOOD FOR YOU~ Losing all that weight deserves much praise! Continue to work-out regularly. You are a young man your skin will eventually change with time, however, you may want to confide in a 'trainer' at the local gym or possibly a coach at nearby college. Try visiting this site: www.WebMd.com and do a search in the areas of weight loss/gain...often times this site will be a terrific avenue for you. If after awhile your skin has noy re-claimed elasticity, you may want to seek out medical advice or intervention. GOOD LUCK! Take care~

My skin is red after washing it? ouch!?
I recently bought clinques acne 3 step kit. The lady there tested out my skin type and i am combiniation, very senstive and dry checks but oily t-zone and the t-zone gets all the zits.
I started using it and after i use it my skin is red in spots and burns a bit.
What should i do?
Is that how it should work?
Thanks!
My skin is red after washing it? ouch!?
wuts a t-zone??
My skin is red after washing it? ouch!?
You might be having an allergic reaction, or the chemical is too harsh for your skin.
Try looking for a gentler facewash or be tested for things in the face was to make sure your not allergic to anything.
Reply:its probably dry. use some lightweight lotion that is meant for your face and make sure it says it doesnt clog pores.
if you need.. just put it on your cheeks and other places it hurts, not your t-zone.
Reply:Stop RUBBING IT SO HARD NEXT TIME!!! Your not scrubbing out a blood stain on the rug!!!
Reply:it might just be that you are allergic to it.try something else, if it continues go tot the doctor.
Reply:I don't know but I just tried Cliniques Turn Around Cream and it burned a bit whenever I used it, but I just ignored it and now my face is broken out. I have the same skin type. I think there is something in their products that is still irritating even though it's supposed to be for that particular skin type.
Reply:well if it stings, stop using it. Go and find a wash made for sensitive skin and don't use too much acne medicine becuase they're usually very extreme. Maybe alternate days like Monday you use it and Tuesday you don't. Then find a lotion that fights acne yet moisturizes your skin at the same time like avenno, for your dry cheeks.
Reply:Its the alcohol in it.It has happened to me too.Buy products that are alcohol free.
Reply:My daughter used that same product and the same thing happened. She stopped using it right away. When I tried to return it the saleslady inferred she was probably not using it correctly. I informed her she followed instructions exactly and I would like to return the product. They gave me a hard time on returning their "money back garuntee" product. They told me that my name was going onto a database and I wouldn't be able to buy this product ever again. BIG WOW! PUHLEEZ! Really strange huh? I don't know what this company is all about but one things for sure-their not about my daughter anymore. One word describes that whole adventure-JOKE!
Reply:You might be allergic to it or your skin might be too sensitive. Try using another product. When I get zits I use Rubbing Alcohol on a cottonball and rub lightly over the area.
Reply:i have the same thing, and my skin does the same. It's just the reaction. it's supposed to do that.
Reply:It could be and sounds like an allergic reaction. I think what you should use is an oil-free foaming cleanser in the morning and use products designed specifically for the t-zone only for that area. And, purchase a moisturizer for your cheeks. Otherwise, they will continue to over-dry with the products you wash your face with.
Reply:It's getting red and it probably burns because your skin is sensitive. It shouldn't be doing that and the lady should've given you a product for sensitive skin/dry skin. See if you can return it. Go back and see if they have any products for sensitive/dry skin that also treats acne. Good luck. 鈾mily

Canine skin allergy symptoms-how to help?
I have a dog with itching problem. I use canine advanitx on her and have also been giving her supplements for skin and coat.
I understand that benadryl(diphenhydramine) helps provide relief. Drs Foster/Smith sells benadryl in 50 mg caps. That is plenty for a person, it seems like a lot for an animal.
I am interested in hearing what other dog owners have had success with, in terms of treating canine skin allergy symptoms?
Canine skin allergy symptoms-how to help?
Switching to raw diet. I had my two-year old GSD allergy tested at six month intervals, went nuts trying to buy the best quality kibble with none of the forbidden ingredients, tried elimination diet, a few different medications, and holistic treatments. 18 months of all this for a baby two-year old dog. Well, switching to raw cleared it up within a week. I've heard this story repeated over and over from other people to the point where I no longer believe these skin problems are actually allergies but are in fact reactions to kibble, just as your face might break out in zits if you ate McDonalds for a week or two straight.
Good luck in your search for a solution. I know first-hand what a frustrating process it can be.
Canine skin allergy symptoms-how to help?
Change her food to Nutra Max Natural Choice. My dog itched, lost his hair, had hot spots, etc., until I changed his food. This food worked wonders for years!!
Reply:I'd suggest getting a consultation with your vet along with an exam. Some dogs are food allergic, in which keeping them on a specific food can cure the problem. Some have environmental allergies - species of grasses, trees, pollens...we had a poor cocker who came in once that was found to be highly sensitive to Bahaya grass, oak pollen and HUMAN DANDER :)
He obviously started allergy vaccine! LOL
The Benedryl would be an option for sporadic relief, as well as PERHAPS steroids (which most vets don't like giving, they can mess up the systems in dogs and especially cats), but I would definitely call the vet before giving anything, as your vet knows the history, age, weight, any other medical problems the pooch may have that may conflict with anything you may goodheartedly want to give him.
Good Luck!
Reply:My dog had this when he was a puppy. We took him into the vet and the vet gave us some pills to give him. It worked!
Reply:Benedryl is very safe for your pet, Only side affect would be possible drowsiness. The dosage is 1 MG per pound of pet so 25 pound dog would get 25 MG of benedryl. Get dog on a GOOD dog food and may need a vitamin supplement also.
Reply:Both of my dogs have allergies and to different things. My Pit has food allergies as well as allergies to flea control. My Lab as envirnomental and has had a hard time. The Pit was easy to fix he is on an excellent diet ( Royal Canin we tried everything including Holistic foods and Royal Canin is the only one that worked). We also only use all natural flea control ( no chemicals) anything else cause him to have an allergic reaction. He is fine that way and no drugs. My Lab was having extreme allergy problems and was on Benedryl and steriods. I hated the side effects of both and could not stand how awful he felt. He is on Royal Canin and a Holistic blend- Raw Intstinct. I really like the Holistic foods so i tried Holistic treatment and it is the first Meds and treatment that works. I thought nothing would work but this does and it is all natural and NO SIDE EFFECTS. FInd and an all natural pet store or go to www.azmira.com. Azmira is the manufacturer of the products. My dog get Yucca Intensive drops ( all natural steriod but no side effects) and he gets Allerg' Free (which replaces the Benedryl and is all natural) This combination is absolutely amazing and my dog is doing EXCELLENT and no longer scratching himself to death. Nothing prior to this worked and I spent hundreds at the vet. I also use Richard's Organic Incredible Skin Spray, I tried everything known to man and this stuff is absolutely amazing/ It is also all natural and has all natural antibiotics in it to stop and aviod infection. Your dog will instantly stop itching. You can only find it at an all natural pet store but it is well worth it. Trust me I tried everything prior to this regime and nothing helped my Lab until now. Nothing the vets did worked it only caused health problems but now my dogs are itch free and happy. Good Luck.

Dry skin left from baby tears near eye what shall i do?
My baby 12 weeks old her crying and tears on her right eye has left a whiter patch and is dry skin, teh tears have dried out the skin area - the side is not near the nose but near the temple - what shall iput on it vaselin (petroleum jelly) what shall i do -
Dry skin left from baby tears near eye what shall i do?
nothing do not attempt to put anything near your babys eyes without consulting a doctor
Dry skin left from baby tears near eye what shall i do?
nothing, dry skin will come off on its own.
Reply:Squirt some breastmilk on there at the end of a feed , or onto a cotton wool and dab it on . If you are formula feeding , then use some cooled chamomlie tae , on cotton wool ; both of these are fine to put in the eye , so are safe for use near her eye also . Also it unlikely to be a reaction to her tears , maybe you need to use a milder washing powder or pure soap on her clothes , sheets . blankies etc.
Reply:If you put vasoline it will blur your babys vision. Use breastmilk or cows milk. but if it is not bothering your baby then dont worry about it. It is just a minor problem

Baby oil worked very well for me after I had my daughter, and I'm sure you have a bottle of that lying around.

Coco butter cream, takes out all those discolour on your skin.
Reply:You may not want to hear this but the most you can do is evenly tone your skin. I would recomment Coco butter daily as if it was lotion
Reply:It goes away on its own. Mine did. After about 4 weeks I was back to my normal skin color and boy was I ready!
Reply:you can use a skin lightening lotion to get rid of the pigmentations.. no hydroquinone, mercury or steroids because these will harm your skin.

Extra skin from losing a lot of weight?
Will this ever go away or do I have to get it surgically removed. Luckily, from losing a lot of weight the skin isn't that noticable. If I do plan to lose a lot of weight, I will always look awful because of the extra skin.

Can you get skin reactions from acrylic finger nails? Can it affect your skin other than your hands(Face)?
Ever since I had acrylic nails put on I have had weird skin reactions. I have normally very clear skin and of late I have painful bumps (not a cold sore, not acne) on my chin and around the corner of my mouth. Now I have a weird cancker sore on the roof of my mouth. Also have a rash on my leg. What they have in common is that they seem to dry up and then come back. They seem somewhat blister like (fluid filled).
Can you get skin reactions from acrylic finger nails? Can it affect your skin other than your hands(Face)?
Some people who wear artificial, or acrylic, nails may notice a slight discoloration or coarsening of their natural nails. But a more serious nail problem resulting from acrylic nails is infection.
Sometimes a gap develops between the acrylic nail and the natural nail 鈥?for example, if the acrylic nail is bumped or jarred, it may separate from the natural nail. This gap provides a moist, warm environment in which bacteria and fungus can grow. If such an infection occurs, the natural nail may become thickened and discolored and should be evaluated by a dermatologist.
Rarely, a person may have an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis) to components of acrylic nails or the adhesives used to apply them. This usually results in some redness and peeling of the skin around the nail. If peeling is excessive or persists despite the use of moisturizer on the affected skin, consult a dermatologist.
The key to preventing infection and nail damage due to artificial nails is to choose a reputable, licensed nail salon.

Choosing a safe nail salon !!!!!!Questions you should ask :
Is the salon licensed? If the license isn't posted, ask to see it.
Are the nail technicians licensed? If the licenses aren't posted, ask to see them.
How are nail implements sanitized? Heat sterilization (autoclaving) is best. But chemical sterilization is also allowed.
Is there a pre-service scrub? Both the nail technician and the client should wash their hands with antimicrobial soap before nail work begins.
Is each customer given a fresh bowl of soapy water to soak their nails in and is a new nail file used for each customer?
Is the facility neat and clean?
Is there a strong smell of fumes? If there is, it's a sign that the facility is poorly ventilated.
Can you get skin reactions from acrylic finger nails? Can it affect your skin other than your hands(Face)?
Being a former manicurist I can answer that with a firm YES . Many non American nail salons do not ad hear to state sanitation codes and who knows who had what before they worked on you? Acrylic nails also stop your natural nails from protecting the nerve endings in your fingers. There have been millions of bad reports of people getting everything from athletes foot from no disinfected pedicure stations to Herpes from non sanitized tools from a simple manicure and lost their fingers. So good things aren't cheep and cheep things aren't good go see a dermatologist and get that checked ASAP you may have even caught morgellons like I did go to morgellons.org and compare symptoms a doctor will call you nuts if you caught this but you can email me if your symptoms match OK?

nice thick and smells good
Reply:use cocoa butter.
Reply:vaseline(petroleum jelly) will keep your skin form being dry. just use it every night before you go to bed for deep moisture. and in the morning 2hours before you go out side if its a hot day.
Reply:Try using some lotion meant for heavily dry skin.
Reply:Ashy skin is dead skin cells that build up and are waiting to be sloughed off.
You can speed up the process by using a buf puf or similar, in the tub or shower everyday. Be Gentle! You're not sanding wood!
Then use something to seal in the moisture as soon as you dry off. The best thing is olive oil. Really. Put a small amount in a plastic thing. Don't take a glass bottle into the shower. Apply a few drops to your wet skin before you towel off.
Use a super emollient lotion on your hands several times a day. The best thing? Again, olive oil. Heat a little this time in a glass thing in the microwave for just a few seconds. Be Careful as it can get really hot! Apply liberally before bed then wear cotton gloves to bed.
It may take 30 days to see improvement as that is how long skin cells take to turn over. The key is consistency.

My skin is tanned and i want to get rid of the tan..?
I'm Latin mixed with white... so my skin is a light brownish color... but this summer i tanned alot... its also very easy and fast for me to get tanned... now i want to get rid of it... i heard about skin bleach cream.. does it work? which one is the best one?
My skin is tanned and i want to get rid of the tan..?
no just cover up stay out the sun and use spf protection it will fade bleach creme is strong and would come out blotchly beware stay away from it
My skin is tanned and i want to get rid of the tan..?
why would you want to get rid of your tan? you should leave the tan to go away naturally
Reply:man dont do that you'll be the next michael jackson! and chicks dig tans!!! stay tan and lay the nuts
Reply:just do what i do and stay inside and play video games and only go out if you need food or anything else important
Reply:ok michael jackson
Reply:it's really bad for your skin i think, just wait for your tan to fade. And be careful about what you wish for you know what happen to michael jackson!
Reply:I'm not sure about the skin bleach cream, but you should exfoliate every day to slough off dead skin. And you should always use sunscreen when you're outside!
Reply:scary i would just let it fade away, you could try exfoliating.
Reply:wait a week..stay out of the sun..wear long sleeves and a hat out in the sun....your skin will shed the tan in about 7 days
Reply:Do you know how many people would love to have a great tan? Don't try to bleach it. Use a high SPF lotion when out in the sun to keep from tanning anymore if you don't like it. It will eventually fade.
Reply:You can still tan wearing sunblock. The only way not to tan is to cover up completely. That means wearing long sleeve shirts and pants, etc. If you do this, even a really dark tanned person will be pale in a year or two. Don't expect results in a few days or weeks.

On a large consumer test with 100 people, bio oil was found to be rubbish. They said it didnt work and the texture wasnt nice.
Reply:It more than likely would. Skin products such as things bio-oil usually work on all types of skins. But if you are allergic to somethings found in stuff like this check the ingredients list.

how can i make my skin fair..??
i'm a typical asian girl from Malaysia..
i'm dark...
can anyone suggest any treatment or anything to make my skin fair..?
ATTENTION!! skin help..!?
I like dark skin too. It is not true that to be beautiful you have to have fair skin. I am also Asian and I love dark skin. I also totally differ from the motto that many Asians like me have which is only fair skinned people can be beautiful. Trust me you don't have to be fair to be beautiful. If you go to America you will be so appreciated. Just concentrate on the beauty that is inside you waiting to be awakened. If you are smart enough you can be beautiful with any skin color.
ATTENTION!! skin help..!?
1. good quality (and safe) skin lighteners
2. a high spf sunscreen to block both UVA and UVb rays
3. your favorite moisturizers
4. vitamin C
this would be a good skin lightening regimen.
Reply:Why do you want to do that? In my country, darker skin is desired, pale skin is not very attractive because it is usually very dry, sensitive, blotchy. But there are some people with fairer skin who do not have this problem. Pale skin was desired before the 1920's, until Coco Chanel, went on holiday to the French Riviera and accidently got a tan, that started the craze of getting glowing sunkissed skin. If you still want pale skin, try using a lighter foundation powder and if your showing skin just dust yourself with the powder. Try to stay out of the sun and use sunscreen. But don't deprive your skin from the sun as this will cause a vitamin D deficiency. Get a few minutes of sun on your hands and face everyday atleast. If you are going for extremities, go for more natural products, do some research about the properties of natural ingredients and find which ones will lighten your skin naturally, apparently "Tumeric" has antioxidants and skin lightening properties. Please do be careful with the chemicals you use, because they may have bad side effects to the skin and cause skin problems and health problems. All the best! xx

Laptop skin, tatoos decals, etc?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I had a killer idea for a skin for my laptop. I did find a template a few months ago for a skin, but forgot where. I have an artist friend who'll draw what I want, and I'll probably just go to Kinko's or some other place to actually have it printed out.
Is there a full-sized template I can download from somewhere, or do I need to measure, and draw the template myself??
Laptop skin, tatoos decals, etc?
Why use Kinkos, you have a laptop and a Printer/Scanner don't you?
Laptop skin, tatoos decals, etc?
I would say It would probably be more cost effective to do it yourself. I'm sure there is probably one somewhere but you would probably have to pay through the nose for it.
Hope it helps

Whats the best skin care routine for moderately young skin that breaks out?
I'll be turning 20 in March and I've never been able to find anything to help give me clear skin. I've been suffering from acne since I was about 11 years old and it still hasn't gone away. I've gone to dermatologists but nothing they give me seems to help. Also, I tried proavtive but it didn't really work. I have pretty oily skin but it still dries out pretty easily. Any suggestions?
Whats the best skin care routine for moderately young skin that breaks out?
Aveeno is a good product line to try. It worked well for my skin but St. Ives worked even better for me. I have combination skin and it really works well. But getting the right product is only half the battle. You have to develop a good skin care regime. Make sure that you wash your face twice daily; once in the morning and once at night. That's very important especially if you wear make-up alot too (I try not to) because it seeps into your pores and even when you think that you washed it all off, there still are traces of it left on your face.
Whats the best skin care routine for moderately young skin that breaks out?
I would use The Avon Solutions.
I have always had really bad breakouts up untill a year ago.
My mother sells Avon and i started using a line of skin care from the company, and my face was completely clear in two weeks.
it felt really good, so give avon a chance.
If you feel gumptious, go to youravon.com and browse the different face treatments
Reply:Hello, I am a bit older than you(only-15yrs.) but I never had breakout problems until I was about 25 and I have tried everything..The thing is a-lot of the stuff drys out my face and then that creates other problems..A few months ago I decided to try another product.. The Aveeno clear complexion line..It is wonderful...It just seems to make my skin perfect you know not to oily and not to dry...My favorite is the clear complextion foaming cleanser..give this line a try..Hope this helps!

Reply:I use ProActiv twice a day
Reply:I use St. Ives facial cleanser twice a day. I haven't had a breakout in ages.
Reply:The best skin care line that has worked for my oily/acne prone skin is Mary Kay. I use the 3-1 cleanser (Timewise) for oily skin, microdermabrasion, moisturizer, and their cosmetics. Nothing touches my face if it isn't Mary Kay. I decided this when my acne started to clear up, I had prettier skin, and some of the fine lines faded. I love it. But Im a light skinned African American and I get light skinned, white, and dark skinned girls. Its all about your approach to them and your confidence. You would be surprised at how many girls/women actually dont give a rats a** about the skin color/ ethnicity of a man. They just want a confident man......... WHO IS COMFORTABLE IN THEIR OWN SKIN!
Reply:U have a good point I am a Black female and I am not dark nor light but I do prefer darker brothers but I have a baby by a light skin brother I think the reason is that most light skin brothers have given me the image that they want to be prettier then I. Itchy skin after bath?
My middle son 11) says his skin is very itchy after his bath time, I even see him scratching his legs right now. His skin also gets real wrinkly, but what can I do to stop the itch?
He says its most itchy at his face, legs, arms and back
Itchy skin after bath?
all of the above plus, consider whether you have hard water. That is known to aggravate skin conditions. If so and you do not have a systemic softener, you can find additives for the bath to soften the water. But I agree with the first. Certain soaps can be miserable. Now the older generation would suggest you use old fashioned lye soap to relieve the itch. I still keep a bar of real lye soap in the first aid box for chigger bites, mosquito bites and poison ivy.
Itchy skin after bath?
mabye he is allergic to his soap. that used to happen to me until i figured out that i was reacting to the soap. try switching the body soap and shampoo he uses and see if that helps. also if you want to you might buy him cetaphil lotion because that helps to soothe and cool skin.
Reply:his bath might be too hot. I get dried out skin from too hot of a bath. It happens...i would try a very good moisturizer. I like Johnson and Johnson essentials....It keeps the skin soft, moist, and stops the itch...The hot bath water dries out the skin and makes it itchy, and scaley...try that and see what happens and make sure the tub water is not too hot!
Reply:I have really dry skin and am always itchy after a bath and have been since childhood. My dermatologist says that this is due to my skin drying out because of lack of humidity. She gave me Aquaphor which is like Vaseline but doesn't make everything greasy. It really works and slowly fades away (even on fabric and glass).
Reply:Stop the baths. It could be soap residue. Soap is good for killing bacteria, but for that same reason it's a corrosive chemical. It's important to rinse soap off after it's done its job. Switch to showers for a week or so. If the itching continues, have him see a family doctor or a dermatologist.
Reply:Along with the allergies mentioned in the first answer also check the temperature of the water.
I, an intelligent (or so I thought) adult, was boiling my very own skin last year and I was so itchy! Took a couple of months to figure it out too and then, boy, did I feel stupid! So I imagine that a kid could pretty easily do it. That hot water just felt so good at the time!
At the time!!
Reply:You can stop the itch by rinsing with warmed distilled water to get the chlorine off his skin. Follow that with a good rub of coconut oil. The little fella may need to exfoliate, since chlorinated water dries out your skin. Just have him soap up his itchy areas with a mild natural soap from a natural store (no petro-chemicals), use a couple of tablespoons of baking soda and rub down well. Rinse well. And follow with coconut oil to re-hydrate his skin cells.
Itch all gone.

Reply:Try buying a different brand of soap. He is probably VERY allergic to the soap he's using currently.

Thin skin on thighs?
the skin on the back of my thighs is very thin and it's starting to worry me. i'm not the most lithe or thin of people, so i need to body brush regularly to stop cellulite. and i also exfoliate to stop rough skin, but I don't do it overly roughly. but whenever i do body brush or exfoliate or even shave my legs i get all these large red dots, like zits with no heads and sometimes darker, appearing on my legs. what can i do to stop this?
Thin skin on thighs?
Well sometimes when you put lotion after you shave your skin brakes out. So don't put lotion. Your skin may be sensitive to lotions, but who knows. I don't know why your skin may be very thin, I don't think thats good. You should go to the doctor to help you an that.

You can use a lotion, but if this don't work out go see a doctor. He maybe will have a nice advice.

My mom is getting really dry, flaky skin just around her mouth, specifically where you would drool...I do not know how to describe the area...but what is a good treatment, preferably natural to heal the skin? It is flaky and chafy...
Dry Skin Around Mouth - Treatment?

Dry Skin Around Mouth - Treatment?
if you go buy some petroleum jelly its really cheap and it works really good it moisturizes just put it on the dry area keep on till it soaks all the way in (it works by itself) and i usually use it while i sleep
Reply:I have the same problem and I found a whole bunch of home remedies that work great. I will send you the links look at all of them they have a lot of informatioon for you. One of the links is for a mask you can make and apply at home.
There is also a quiz to see what your skin type is (besides just dry).
Good luck with eveything

Dry skin near the Eyes?
In the last week i've had really dry skin
above my eyelid and directly below my eyes. Dry skin is flaking off and its really bad. I tried regular lotion like Vaseline on the area but it stings like hell.
Please help? What can i do to get rid of it?
Dry skin near the Eyes?
Try a moisturizing cream made especially for eyes. I have an amazing one that I got from Walgreen's that you apply at night-time. It's called Nature's Finest Eye Cream with Vitamin E, and it's Walgreen's brand. It's like $3. It really helps keep my around-the-eye area stay moisturized, smooth and it doesn't burn at all. Good luck!
Dry skin near the Eyes?
I had a dry rash on my chin two years ago. I saw my doctor about it and she prescribed me a creme. It cleared up before the creme was gone.
Reply:Try putting on intensive eye cream around the eye area. Your eye area is too dry and you need to moisurize it every night and day w/eye cream.
Reply:that happened to me too right near my eye. it might be mild eczema which what i think mine was. i got elidel cream and it went away. hope that helps :]
Reply:omg i had thattt last yr. it was awful. it sorta hurts when i rub the area too.. coz too dry. GET A MOISTURIZER! (:
Reply:It might be something like exema I use an exema creme on it and it is the only thing that takes it away.

Why does college do this to my skin??
Hi there, I'm 20 years old and in college. When I am home my skin is very clear with an occasional pimple here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary. ProActiv keeps my skin looking nice. However, the second I get back to school my skin gets oily and horrible and breaks out. I've tried everything and nothing helps. Within 24 hours my skin is a mess. I keep a very clean dorm room and shower everyday (OF COURSE!)
Then I go home for 2 or 3 days and my skin will be clear again... It's so strange.
Why is this happening and what can I do?
Why does college do this to my skin??
The air in you college dorm room might be wreaking havoc on your skin. Try buying a humidifier to clean the air in your room. It will suck the debris and nasty air away.
Why does college do this to my skin??
The foods that you are eating while away at school may not be as healthy as the foods that you are eating at home. Also the quality of the water that you are getting at school may not be same as the quality of water at home. Or the climate change could also be the difference. I would attempt to eat healthier and try to keep stess levels down. The more that you stress the more your face is going to break out.
Reply:Maybe you eat greasier food or food that isn't the best for you when your in school because its cheaper or easier. Is there a difference in the climate where you go to school? Maybe it more humid where you go to school or where you go home. I know that the weather affects my skin a lot.
Reply:Living in dorm rooms allows a lot of germs to get in. The air vents in your room are connected to every other room in the dorm, so that's where germs can get in as well. Also, at school, you probably have a weird sleeping schedule and are under stress with the work. Things will calm down when you get into a ruitine.
Reply:Maybe you could try washing your face more often throughout the day when your away to school.
I definitly know what you mean, I wasn't away for school, but I went daily and I found that I couldn't wait to wash my face when I got home, b/c the air is so thick and just settles on your skin.
Reply:There are quite a few reasons this could be happening. First of all, we all know that increases in stress cause an increase in acne/pimples. With finals coming up, papers due, and tests to worry about, I'm sure when you're in the college environment your stress level increases dramatically. Second of all, the environment/weather greatly affects acne. If the weather at college is a lot more humid than your home, your skin will naturally get more oily. Also, hotter weather causes you to sweat more. When you sweat, oils resurface on your skin! Keep these things in mind.

Dry skin and spots?
greasy skin causes spots, but i have dry skin and still get spots. how can i get rid of them
Dry skin and spots?
I would try to put a skin cream on it.I would say as long as it isn't bothering you or very itchy then you should be fine.Don't get too nervous if it isn't puffy that means you really just need cream. If it lasts a really long time you can go to your doctor.

My skin is super dull. Does anyone know any great products to give skin a more radiant appearance?
My skin is also very sensitive.
My skin is super dull. Does anyone know any great products to give skin a more radiant appearance?
For the face or entire body? Dove has a skin brightening body wash and lotion and so does Caress. Aveeno has a skin brightening line of facial products and I believe they have a body wash too (I'm not sure about a lotion). They all work very well but Aveeno may be better for very sensitive skin.

Sunburn.skin.ouch.?
my skin is peeling off,,,,im just wondering if the new skin will have a better tan when i tan next time.ill use a sunblock nextime
Sunburn.skin.ouch.?
No. Same skin. Same genetic material. And don't try to tan too often, it's not healthy at all. It'll burn and tan the same as the last skin--except you have an increased risk of skin cancer every time your skin is tanned or burned.
Sunburn.skin.ouch.?
um no.
Reply:No, it's like if you cut yourself, and your skin heals, it won't be harder to cut the next time around.
Reply:tanning just means your skin is in distress. However pealing means you have pretty much killed your skin. i suggest you try not tanning and put on sunscreen everyday otherwise when your older you will get sunspots all over your body and really really wrinkly skin! also use aloa vera on your skin that is peeling! it will feel better and keep moisture in your skin :)

first of all, u need to apply a moisturizer to the skin b4 foundation application. next get a foundation thats oil-free and is eco-friendly...meaning doesn't test on animals, all natural, and no other additives and chemicals. smashbox is a cruelty-free company. since u have dry skin, definitley stay away from the powders...b/c that'll just make ur face look more dry. try bare minerals. its not a powder, its a light mineral veil and it absorbs well on to the face almost like a cream. it looks very natural.
I have dry skin! Foundation help??
I HAD THE SAME PROMBLEM! It's really easy to fix! Before you put your makeup on put motrzier on, and let it dry for 2 min, and then put on your makeup! It's the best thing for me! Good luck, I hope I helped!
Reply:u shouldnt use foundation it will break ur skin out like crazy so use (oil of olay)and it makes ur shin smooth and it feels great.
Reply:use the really light foundation, cause heavy foundation makes your skin dry. i dont have sensitive skin, but when i use a heavy foundion it drys off. use the light ones
Reply:In addition to the moisturizer, make sure you are not using an oil free foundation...they tend to make our skin dry.
Reply:Use a light moisturizer before applying foundation.
Reply:use mac foundation!!! its amazing!!!
Reply:i would try an exfoliation scrub , followed by a good moisturizer. leave on at night. apply light moisturizer before foundation in the morning.
Reply:I use Revlon Colorstay, and i also have dry skin. It WORKS!! It moisturizes and it has an SPF of 25, so it protects you in the sun and keeps you shining all day long.
Reply:The first step is to start with a good cleanser and moisturizer.
Try Mary Kay Full Coverage foundation. It's specifically formulated to hydrate dry skin.
Reply:first off never ever use mac foundation it has microbes that tear your skin and can cause infections and breakouts.
my suggestion is illuminare, its expensive and they dont have it everywhere but its well worth it
Reply:i have the same problem, and i couldnt use oil of olay or vitamin e oil, it just caused more problems after about the 4th day of using it. i use elizabeth arden oil based makeup faithfully and exfoliate at least 1x a month. i dont use powder or shadow, it makes it worse. i use blush designed for sensitive skin. I dont have wrinkles as bad as some of my friends the same age - and yes I'M OLD! good luck!
Reply:Use a skin care system for normal to dry skin. Also, make sure you are exfoliating every other day at least to remove dead, dry skin. This will help the foundation go on better. Moisturizing is a must. You should use a light foundation...NOT powder foundation. This makes dry skin look even more so. A tinted moisturizer would be great, too. Mary Kay makes a great one.

Concealer for dark skin in the uk?
I know that Loreal's new HIP line has colors just for us colored woman. I don't know whether they sell it in the UK though. They are usually sold at drugstores in the US. But I hope you find it, because they're stuff is really good and they have extensive colors.

Can you be more specific on your skin tone? Are you black, or white with darker skin? I am white with darkish skin and Body Shop does a great concealer pencil that goes into dark shades. Hope that helps.

Baby has rough skin, runny nose, funny sound when breathing?
My 18 month old is having strange symptoms. I freaked out today when he suddenly was making a "wheezing" sound when breathing. He also has a cough, runny nose, and non-red, rough patches on his skin. I immediately rushed him to the emergency room, but the doctor seemed to think nothing of it. He said he was not "wheezing" when he listened to his lungs, but the wheezing sound was coming from his throat. I wonder if he has a food allergy or something? I did not show the doctor his rough skin, I thought it may have been dry skin. But, I have been looking up stuff on the internet and saw symptoms of a food allergy causing all these symptoms. Also, he had diarhia a couple of days ago.
Baby has rough skin, runny nose, funny sound when breathing?
i have a 6 month old son who just went through all of the symptoms you just mention, we started introducing him to new food. and he started having red spot's on his cheek and forehead. the doc said it was baby excema, also heard that some kids can have allergic reaction to some of the new foods where their body's aint used to them. the runny nose. cough and diarhia, and wheezing, he had them not to long after, he said it was just a cold, and the weird brathing was where the drainage was running down his throat making them sounds cause he don't know how to clear his throat or blow his nose yet. but nothing to worry about too much. But i would keep close eye one him, could have bad reaction to the food and closing his airway's. not all doctors are rite all the time. neither am i. I would seek more professional help since it is your kid.
Baby has rough skin, runny nose, funny sound when breathing?
If the doctor didn't hear wheezing than his lungs are clear and it is in his throat or sinus's. If the doctor wasn't concerned I wouldn't either unless it gets worse or doesn't get better in the next couple of days.
Reply:Get a second opinion, that does sound like a food allergy take your baby to a baby doctor NOW because sometimes two doctors are better than one., be sure to show the rash this time.

Perfect skin....?
how do i get it because for some reason lately my skin has been extra oily and i have no clue why,its also starting to break out just a little though. So how do i get nice smooth not too oily not too dry tan pimple free skin?
Perfect skin....?
you should buy a soap specifically for the face, one for oily or combination skin. That should help you lots
Perfect skin....?
I'd use pure and natural products - A good regime with a hydrating wash, toner and cream repeat at night with a night cream a bi weekly exfoliant
and a once weekly mask.
Water
vitamins
vitamin e, b6 and a
Reply:Use facial cleansers/soaps with glycolic acid. It helps control facial oil without causing over-dryness. Apply a toner with salicylic acid to help remove and prevent blackheads caused by excessive oil build up. Apply a light moisturizer at night even when skin is oily, this will prevent over-dryness.
Be aware of the ingredients in the skin care products that you use. Choose ingredients that will work for your type of skin.

Perfect skin?
How can I get perfect skin ? I have sensitive fair skin and ive been using dial anti-bacterial soap and its been working but I'm starting to break out again.... Any ideas?
Perfect skin?
It depends on your definition of perfect skin. If you're talking about magazine ads perfect, then forget it because those models are airbrushed. To get the best skin you can, though, make sure to use a face cleanser. Use a creamy one if you have dry skin, and a gel or foam kind if you have oily skin. I recommend the Neutrogena line of cleansers which you can get at any drug or grocery store. Be sure to moisturize daily and since you have fair skin use sunscreen daily before you go out to prevent damage from the sun.
Perfect skin?
Don't use a bar of soap on your face- not a good idea.
Reply:It's probably not what you want to hear but healthy diet and lots of water, at least 2 litres a day!!!
Reply:if ur still not happy with those over the counter products, see a dermatologist. they can perscribe u mild stuff that will stop breakouts, altho u'll still get zits sometimes.
Reply:The best answer is to try different ones and mix up your combo. I find myself changing mine every few months. I have had the best luck with Neutrogea though. I know they make a line for sensitive skin.
Reply:Get a good toner and when you get breakouts, use a maske once or twice a week. And make sure to wash your face daily with an acne fighting soap, not bar soap.
Reply:first of all
there's no such thing as perfect skin
but lots and lots of water
and no fatty foods
dove is very nice on your skin
it's not too strong of a soap
Reply:Dial is bad for your face. Try Neutrogena clear bar for face. Use the sensetive bar.
Reply:Drink water!
Its not the cure all for everything, but it definitely helps. Everytime you eat anything that is junk food, drink a glass of water at the same time
Reply:1. Don't overdo cosmeceuticals. With more and more beauty potions containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), salicylic acids, antioxidants, and retinoids, mixing a cleanser from one line with a scrub or daytime moisturizer from another, then a night cream from yet another, can lead to over-exfoliation and irritation, says Deborah S. Sarnoff, M.D., associate clinical professor of dermatology at the New York University School of Medicine, in New York City. This can add up to a real problem, especially for women with olive and darker complexions, who are more prone to discoloration when their skin is irritated. To play it really safe, stick with one line of products which are formulated to work together. If you use any prescription products, such as Renova, ask your dermatologist to advise you on how to combine prescription treatments with over-the-counter cosmeceutical products.
2. Shake your booty. Twenty to 30 minutes of any aerobic exercise will give you a glow. Exercise increases blood flow, which brings more nutrients to the skin, says Sarnoff. But beware -- the buildup of oil and perspiration can result in sweatband acne, folliculitis, and prickly heat. The solution: Shower as soon as possible after working out.
3. Don't get intimate with the phone. Constant rubbing on the mouthpiece may lead to rashes around the chin and mouth, says Alexa Boer Kimball, M.D., M.P.H., assistant professor of dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center, in Palo Alto. Hold the phone away from those areas when talking, and clean it often with a mild soapy solution or rubbing alcohol.
4. Check your birthday suit for spots. Any sudden or suspicious-looking bump, mole, or other growth is reason to see a dermatologist. But as skin-cancer rates rise, having a full body check by a professional is crucial -- especially for those of us in the baby-oil-and-iodine, pre-sunscreen generation. "People in a high-risk group -- having a personal or family history of skin cancer, a lot of moles, fair skin, and/or light eyes or hair -- may need regular checkups starting in their teens, and probably no later than age 35," says Randall K. Roenigk, M.D., professor and chairman of the department of dermatology at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota. Even if you're not in a high-risk group, the American Cancer Society recommends that between the ages of 20 and 40, people have a cancer-related checkup, including a skin exam, every three to four years. Once you hit your 40s, begin having a cancer-related checkup, including a skin exam, every year. You should also be doing monthly self-exams to keep an eye out for changes and growths. (For step-by-step instructions on how to do a head-to-toe self-exam, call the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345; ask for a free copy of their brochure, "What You Should Know About Melanoma." Or visit www.cancer.org.)
Reply:you buildup dead skin cells on your skin especially with a bar soap which is a bit drying for the face and body.. exfoliate once a week with st. ives apricot scrub to get rid of these pore-clogging dull skin layers and clear your skin.

Bad skin problem. help needed!?
i have never had acne or pimples before in my life, but all of a sudden two months ago i started to get pimples and they wont go away! ive tried everything, i wash my face everyday and put treatment on them. I tried proactive but it made my skin flake off. So i went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me some acne washes but they make my face really tight and hurt and then my skin starts to peel off. plus my acne isnt going away.
does anyone have any suggestions for me?
Bad skin problem. help needed!?
You can use many products in your own kitchen that are natural and safe to use. Some of them include eggs, honey, oatmeal, extra virgin oil, lemons, etc. But here is a really good (and inexpensive) remedy you may want to try:
Take a whisked egg white and rub it over your face. You can leave it on for 15 minutes or sleep with it on. I recommend sleeping with it because the results are so much better! In the morning do your normal clease, tone, and moisturize! The egg white tightens your skin and leaves your skin soft and smooth. This isn't going to happen overnight (would be great if it did!) but you will definitely see results if you are consistent! If you have acne scars/blemishes use 100% cocoa butter, tea tree oil, Vitamin E oil to "fade" away the scars.
***Also, remember to:
*Drink plenty of water!
*Keep your hands out of your face!
*Cut back on sugary, greasy, and fatty foods as well as sodas!
*Leave your pimples alone! Do not pop, poke, or pinch them...it's better to leave them alone and let them go away on their own than to wake up with an acne scar/blemish.
*Cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face at least 2 times a day.
*Stay stress-free!
***HOPE THIS HELPS!***

Sometimes acne can be caused by dry, dead skin that clogs the pores. I've heard CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is very good and won't break you out. Visit acne.org for more tips and treatments.
Reply:well i've been using dove fash wash and my face has been getting better and better everyday. it makes ur skin smoother and softer and the pimples go away after awhile
Reply:well its called PUBERTY!get used to it.
Reply:If you wash your face too much or put on too much medication it will only make it worse. Something you could do is drink 5 - 8 glasses of water a day (this will make your skin healthier). It would also be a good idea to wash you pillow cases and sheets very frequently (Twice a week, this will prevent bacteria from getting in your skin when you sleep). Eating a lot of grains (like bread) can cause skin problemsm, avoid them.
Oh! Avoid touching your face, too.
Only wash your face before bed and when you wake up, and if you apply medication, only do that before bed time.
These should help a lot. =)
Reply:Get your proactive out again and just use it every other day or every three days and see if it doesn't help. Stop washing your face and never ever use soap on it! Unless you have very oily skin on your face, there is no reason to use anything but water to wash it.

Flaking skin?
I used "neutrogena Clear pore"recently and now my skin is very dry and flaking on the chin!!
I have combination skin and now my face sooo dry
what the best way to prevent flaking? Thanks in advance
Flaking skin?
Drink more water -
take vitamins a and e orally.
Before washing your face take a clean hot wash cloth to your face and draw the dirt/dead cells to the surface.
Find a more pure and natural face regime.
IF you haven't heard of or tried Arbonne you should. It's botanical and self adjusts to all skin types.
I also suggest a good exfoliant (I use booths found at a drug store) use this twice a week and a hydrating mask once a week.
Wash with pure/hydrating soaps
a toner [witch hazel]
and a day cream and at night repeat it all with a night cream.
Flaking skin?
Use Clean %26amp; Clear Moisturiser
types of lily

I also suggest a good exfoliant (I use booths found at a drug store) use this twice a week and a hydrating mask once a week.
Wash with pure/hydrating soaps
a toner [witch hazel]
and a day cream and at night repeat it all with a night cream.

Spotless skin? I mean simple, easy skin care?
I'm due to get married in December. A bit nervous as you may have guessed :). Could you tell me how can I maintain my skin to avoid any pimples etc and keep it spotless?
Thanks in advance to all answers
Spotless skin? I mean simple, easy skin care?
Hi!
Your secret to spotless skin is a good diet, exercise and to remain hydrated. You may go for natural facials once or twice a week. To avoid pimples, avoid foods that are too greasy and fattening (yes, that includes chocolates as well). Have a diet enriched mainly with fruits, vegetables and grains. You can have red and white meats once-twice in a week. If you can, go ahead for detox! It works. A three-day detox plan on fluids with grape juices and soups. Since this flushes out all the toxins from your body, you will not only look vibrant and pink with vigor but you'd also get rid of the toxins from your body that would make you look more toned (body-wise). Make sure you detox only once a month. I hope the information helps! Wishing you all the best and hearty congratulations for your wedding! May God bless you both!

Reply:I feel your pain and I can help you. But you have to follow this to a T.
I had terrible acne. Pimples on top of pimples on top of pimples for years. I tried every over the counter product and I tried half of the ones that doctors precribed and none of them did anything but make my skin super dry. The pimples still came through.
After years of dealing with it I finally developed a way to battle this on my own.
Here is the deal.
Acne is not due to any 1 certain thing. Its a condition of multiple things going wrong at the same time. Below I will describe all of these things and how they make your acne flare up. But it is important to remember that you need to correct as many of them as possible. If you correct all of them exept 2 your will still have bouts with acne. You have to correct all of them... and then keep them corrected.
*Stress, Fretting, and Selfconsciousness
This can be one of the worst things to change. Mainly for the fact that there is a cycle here. You get acne and you stress and feel subconscious.
Stress is not just a psychological thing. Its physiological too.
When a dog chases you, your body has a chemical rush.. the flight or flight phenomenon. Your body releases a RUSH of chemicals in order for you to manage the situation and survive.
Stress is "chemically" very much the same as the adrenaline rush that you feel. A dog chasing you causes you stress... so you get that Rush of chemicals. However, when you stress about things such as homework, your car insurance, and your acne... there isn't really an immediate need for the chemicals. Rather than RUSHING out... the chemicals leak out... they seep out.
This seeping consists of a LOT of chemicals, and these chemicals in turn trigger a lot of other chemicals.
It may not sound like a big deal, but if your body is constantly locked in a mode of mild aggitation it can cause serious problems. Not just acne, but after prolonged periods you may develop heart problems, increased risk of cancer and stroke.
To come full circle... the slow steady aggitation of stress will cause an excess of body chemicals that normally shouldn't be there. This will lead to increased Acne.
*Diet
I could go on about diet forever. However, I think this is a quite obvious cause of Acne so I'll keep it short. If you eat like a disgusting human being, you are going to look like a disgusting human being. Its as simple as that.
You really need to do your best to elimanate fats, soda, candy, sugar, potatoe chips, white bread, cheese, ice cream, chocolate, salt, and fast food from your diet. Not only do you need to eliminate these things, you need to replace them with LOADS of water, veggies, fruits, nuts, whole grain bread, whole wheat bread.
One other thing you might not realize is that anything that is easy to cook is terrible for you. You need to try to avoid canned foods, boxed foods, and freezer foods. If its fast and easy its deadly and it will flare your acne.
*Clenliness
Clenliness is pretty obvious too. And I don't doubt that you are a clean person. When I talk about clenliness what I am referring to is the little things that you might not realize.
For instance... you go to school. You touch the railing on the way up the stairs. You touch the doorknob to the classroom. You touch your desk and your pencil that has never been cleaned in its lifetime. Your hand sweats. You reach up to wipe the hair out of your face or scratch your nose and what have you done?
You've just scratched, pressed, wiped and streaked about 50 varieties of bacteria into the pores of your face. Who would love nothing more than to find a warm greasy nutrient filled little hole to make their babies in.
I know you are a clean person.. but you need to become aware of these sorts of mishaps.
Carry a travel bottle of hand sanitizer with you in your bookbag, in your car and at home on your desk. Whenever you touch a doorknob, your keyboard, your steering wheel, or whatever, just make a tiny mental note that your hands are dirty. As soon as you have time, give those babies an alcohol bath and suffer those little germies.
Warning... don't go overboard and go germ crazy. You can't kill them all :)
*Drinking/Drugs Unhealthy behavior
I like to have some beer and wine. But the idea here is moderation. If you have 2-3 beers you aren't going to be breaking out because of it. However if you have 2-3 beers every night for 3 nights in a row.. you might start to notice a difference in your complexion.
Have fun... enjoy yourself... but learn to moderate beer/marijuana/etc.
Remember that alcohol is a poison. If your body is trying to clean your system of poisons... it has that much less manpower to fight the bacteria growing in your pores.
*Colds or other illness
When you get a cold, or you have the stomach flu, your body goes into damage mode. It'll likely put the small infections such as your acne on hold in order to fight the larger infections.... such as the bacteria in your stomach that are trying to kill you.
This is also why some people get fever blisters when they get sick. Normally the body is keeping the virus at bay... but when they get sick the immune system gets a bit overloaded and has to prioritize.
Unfortunately, Acne is one of the least priorities on the list.
If you get sick... you are likely to have an outbreak.
*Sunlight
Sunlight is full of UV rays... UV rays are bad for your skin if you get too many right? Well for that very same reason they are VERY deadly to microorganisms.
UV rays scramble the germs DNA and they cease to function and die.
What I'm trying to stress here is that Emo kids who lock themselves in the basement and sit in front of the computer don't have this added advantage. Don't go nuke yourself in a tanning bed, but try to get outside and take a little jog... or just hang out in the back yard for a little bit.
Get out and get a little bit of sun. I swear it helps!
*Exercise and Sweating
Exercise activates all sorts of your body's good chemical processes. It increases the blood flow which will increase the rate at which immune cells, nutrients and antibodies reach the tiny capillaries of your face.
In addition to this you sweat. Sweat comes out of your pores... right!? Its a good deal.
I noticed that if I would have a good workout at the gym and then sit in the steam room for 20 minutes until I was dripping sweat my acne decreased dramatically in the following days.
*Irritation
By irritation I mainly mean harsh chemicals and harsh scrubbing. Your skin doesn't like to be plastered with chemical compounds and then grated to death with an abrasive pad. Also, harsh alcohol products such as Clearasil are terrible. They do little to help.
If you want to clean your face go to Wal-mart and get a 2 dollar bottle of Equate daily face wash. When you go to bed and when you get up... or during the day when you realize that you are extra greasy just do a "light" wash of your face to get rid of the excess grease and dirt. The soap is a polar molecule and it binds to tiny dirt particles. When you rinse the dirt goes with the soap. Don't scrub... just let the bubbles and water do its work. Then dab with a "clean" towel.
Used towels and wash rags have 400 times more bacteria than a keyboard and 600 times more than your toilet seat.
*Thinking about the Acne
I really have nothing to back this one up other than I KNOW with my heart and soul that its true.
If you have acne and you think think think think think think think think about it... it'll get confident and want to take over your whole face. I don't know why this is... i think its kinda like the stress thing. If you have a pimple and you think about it. Its bound to get worse.
*Age and Hormones
I put this one last because its the only one of these things that is out of our control.
There are only a few times in a persons life when we have HUGE amounts of hormones and chemicals racing through us.
Birth to 3 years old.
Adolescence to about 23 years old.
Pregnancy
Menopause.
During these times you will see a marked increase in acne and there is little you can do about it but wait.
I know I have been long winded... but this took me 15 years to fomulate. It'll work... I swear by it.
The only problem is trying to do all of these things at once and keep it going. Many times I would do these things and my face would clear up and I would be like "yey!" and I would start to slack off. Every time it would come back with a vengance.
Follow these rules as much as you can and keep them going. Don't stop!
There are two more things I'd like to say.
Acne has a lag to it. So say you go out friday and Saturday and drink and party and eat fried chicken and lose all sorts of sleep.
Sunday you might be as clear as a bell... but on Tuesday your face will look like someone set fire to it and put it out with an ice pick. This is one of the reasons its hard to detect exactly what causes your acne.... because it comes 3 days after the cause.
Invest in a pack of needles. Rather than squeeze and press and ravage your pimples and make them explode out... nick the top layer of skin that is holding the pus in and then apply pressure. You'll cause much less damage this way and you can even get to those really deep pimples that won't come to the surface for another couple of days.
I hope this helps. I'm sorry Its so long winded.
I am rooting for you! I have been there!
Reply:I agree with the ladies who have said good exercise, diet and drinking lots of water....But I also use the Clinique 3 step range along with a facial scrub. Go to a clinique counter at a department store and they will give you a free consulatation and help you if you have trouble areas and stuff.....I dont work for them by the way, even though it sounds like i do, ive always found them very helpful and their products are reasonably priced too and they give you lots of freebies!!! ;)

The only reason it is available to us is because when farmers applied it to there cattles Udders, to help keep them smooth and moisterized, they realized that it also worked for them. If that doesn't work, see a dermatologist.

Damaged Skin From Acne?
I had bad acne before I used proactive, and now after getting rid of it pretty much my skin looks pretty damaged; it's like torn almost, I guess (from popping pimples). Will this heal itself over time? Or is there something I can do to help the skin?
It's not REAL bad, but it's noticable.
Damaged Skin From Acne?
Try using a cream with benzoyl peroxide in it. Not only does it keep you from getting new pimples, it will help with the scarring caused by the old ones. Remember not to pop those pimples! Let them heal on their own to prevent future scarring. Good luck!
Damaged Skin From Acne?
Just google a photo of Robert Redford. That's what happens to skin after severe acne.
Reply:try face maskes the work pretty good.lol hey umg...where can i get proactiv at? iney ways yea try that and mabby a little mud mask 2.lol ttyl love kayla.
Reply:no the pimples will stain on your face and if you use proactive you have to use all your life and you should go to your doctor and he will give you some cream
Reply:I think it should heal itself over time, but you can speed it up by using some things from home too.
This website talks about how staying hydrated, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, and using aloe vera gel on your face can help speed up the healing process. Hope it helps.

Good lotion for really dry skin?
During cold weather, my knuckles as well as the backs of my hands always get really dry. And I mean REALLY dry, too. If I don't use any sort of dry skin treatment my knuckles will literally start to crack and bleed. Is there a good over-the-counter lotion that works well with this type of skin? I have some lotions that I use, but skin always starts drying out again several hours after application.
Also, I'm a guy, so it would be best if the skin treatment had more of a gender-neutral smell. Though if it works, I'll use it, even if it does smell feminine.
Good lotion for really dry skin?
My husband suffers the same (but on his fingers) all winter.
He uses Corn Huskers lotion (found at the drug store) with a yellow cap (clear bottle) also any cream with a shea or cocoa butter is helpful. Do not use any product with a mineral oil base (and no vaseline) petroleum (contrary to what people think) is not helpful - especially to dry skin.
You can also open pure vitamin e and apply before bed slip on socks (or gloves) to lock in moisture.

try aquaphor. it comes in a white tub or tube with a blue lid. It's clear, like vasoline, but works amazingly. I put it on my hands a couple times a week and they're super soft.
Reply:Eucerin in the tub (not the tube) is the best for really, really dry skin. It costs a little more, but it works. My shins get so dry they crack and bleed in the winter, eucerin is the only thing that heals it.
Reply:know that your dry skin will respond well to an all natural skin care moisturizer for it is proven to be safe and effective in keeping the skin moist all day. avoiding long baths will help for that can rob moisture out of your skin. better ask your dermatologist about good skin care treatments and skin care remedies for dry skin. having healthy habits can also help improve the look and how your skin feels from inside and out. try to refrain from smoking and alcohol for they do not only cause the skin to become dry but also they can promote premature skin aging.
